“Green Eyed Monster”

Beware of Jealousy, My Lord! It’s a Green-Eyed Monster that Makes Fun of the Victims it Devours

Act 3, Scene 3, The Tragedy of Othello, The Moor of Venice

Iago warns Othello about the evils of jealousy, even as he is casting doubts in Othello’s mind.

This painting has Othello and Desdemona literally in a monster’s coil. Which is to be blamed – Othello’s insecurity, Iago’s thwarted ambition or Desdemona’s blind love?

The composition is inspired by Mandala paintings.
